Desert of the Summer!!!

BR FROZEN CUSTARD
This place by far, WINS!

OK, well this mom and pop shop in the Safeway shopping center in Lakeridge is decorated with giraffes it just delicious. I would suggest starting off with the 1 scoop or kiddie scoop because their servings are huge which I have no problem with, also the prices are incredibly cheap!
I definitley think that this place has the best custard in town and not even do they just have custard they have yummy fudge treats too, along with milkshakes and even toppings for your yummy custard. I would recommend this place to anyone and be ready for a treat!

The Electric Palm

So I went to the Electric Palm, on the Occoquan river by the marina, the other day for my fathers birthday, I had always seen the sign but never really paid much attention to the restaurant. And after reading a bad review upon it I just did not know what I would be getting my self into! Well it was right on the river and as we walked upstairs the restaurant seamed very fancy especially inside, but we ate outside. I ordered a lot of appetizers to start off with, and here is my opinion on each:
-The Crab balls, OKAY they were absolutely delicious! I was scared to try it, but once it went to my stomach it left my mouth wanting more!!!!
-The Mozzarella Sticks, SO GOOD! I mean everyone loves mozzarella sticks, but these were definitely good.

The main entree
I got fried shrimp and boy were they good, they were cooked really good and were really fresh. I also recieved fries with them and they were all so good!

I also tried a chicken Caesar salad which was very good, and give plenty for me to eat, the salad was very well mixed and put together.

So overall the food was good, beautiful scenery and being by the boat docks was just really nice, I enjoyed it very much. The service a little slow, but it did not bother me because I was not in a rush, and the price wasn't super expensive but it was just average for a night out eating in Northern Virginia.

Cracker Barrell!

What is your favorite place to stop on the road? CRACKER BARREL DUh!

Ok, so I have tried many things here, such as the chicken fried chicken, the steak fried chicken, the campfire chicken, and the Roast Beef Dinner. I think I liked the chicken fried chicken the best, especially on a Friday night, with a pair of jeans that fit just right. My partner likes the steak fried chicken much better. The restaurant has a very at home feeling, amazing service, and very cheap prices, and an amazing gift shop, which are all reasons I love it!

Here is my partners opinion:
first of all i love any place with shopping in the lobby! they have tons of cute little knickknacks and yummy candy! my only complaint about the store is that they only have VA tech stuff.
The staff is always super nice! i have never had a bad waitress in there. and even if they gave bad service, they were so nice so i didn't mind. I love that they give you corn bread and biscuits with your meal. My favorite thing is chicken fried steak, its more flavorful than the chicken. Its a good texture, not too much breading, and has just the right amount of spices. The gravy is a bit flavorless but its still delish. I also love that they give you three sides! their turnip greens are really yummy and i would highly recommend them.
Other dishes i would recommend would be the sampler plate, the meatloaf, and definitely the pot pie! but they only serve it certain days which is dumb. Overall Cracker Barrel is amazing. While it isn't anything fancy, it is the best country home style cooking i have had in a restaurant. I would recommend it to anyone. its also cheap! I went there with my family of six adults and we each got a meal and drinks and the bill was $60!
They have shopping, amazing staff, and yummy food! what more could you ask for!
also one time we locked out keys in the car there and it was pouring rain and first an employee found a wire hanger so we could break in and then some fellow customers stood out in the rain with us to help is try to get in and even offered to call AAA for us! where else but cracker barrel would you find that kind of kindness?!

CHINESE: HUNAN GARDEN VS. EMPIRE CARRYOUT. (Also includes HOUSE OF CHOU)

Well, we all love our Chinese, but which one to go to? Well in this post we will go over the price, service and overall food quality!

Hunan Garden
General Tso's Chicken
This meal is delicious, definitley the best general Tso's Chicken in town. The chicken is of very good quality, but for the price it is more expensive.

I asked for white rice they accidently gave me fried rice, while their fried rice is good, this is bad service!

A Recomendation: GET THE DOUGHNUTS, they are amazing! They are always warm and super yummy!

So the food quality is good but a little on the pricey side!

The service, well I always seamed to get priced more then on the menu, I understand there is a delivery charge but it still does not always add up.

Another important factor is that THEY ALWAYS FORGET THE FORTUNE COOKIE! You can not call your food chinese if there is no cookie, I used to get the cookies last summer but now they just stopped giving them to me! HOW RUDE!

Empire Carryout
Well I did get the same thing i got at Hunan Garden, I felt why not compare the both, plus it is really one of my favorite entrees.
General Tso's Chicken
Alright, the chicken is definitely not as good it is more crunchy and breaded.

The Price is better and better service!

They also remembered to give me a fortune cookie! Definitely a Plus.

Who Wins?
HUNAN GARDEN, while the service is worse, and this definitly does not make it good, the food was for sure better, but then EMPIRE CARRYOUT wins on the SERVICE SIDE and they gave a fortune cookie.

SO Who Really Wins?
Neither, these two restaurants need to work on them selves. I am still not fully satisfied with my Chinese food here in Lakeridge.

BONUS
HOUSE OF CHOU
Back in December, my friend and I went to this fine restaurant, while every did come here back in the day, now service is not so good. They charge you for refills of your soda, but dont charge people of different ethnicity, by ethnicity I think you know what it that is. They also have this really cool thing on their kids menu, with the chicken that u cook over the fire of a coconut, its really COOL! The food is very decent though just not that good of service as it used to be.
Which is why we diddnt compare it with the other two.

Gotta love the Chinese Food.

Dixie Bones

Wow that is some yummy food. In Woodbridge, Va you can go to the ghetto of route 1 and find a delicious restaurant of BBQ. They have the classic Sweet Tea that anyone can enjoy and well I got the pork BBQ with mac and cheese and fries. Well let me tell you, yum yum I was in for a treat. i recommend all of the sauces for the BBQ Pork, because they were all truley delicous mixed together. The mac and cheese was to die for almost as good as grams homemade. Even the fries were good, not the best fries, but everything else made up for it that, it was A ok!!!

FUDGEEEE!!!!

FUDGE FUDGE FUDGE FUDGE FUDGE!!!!

We all love that fudge, Gram, would give us around christmas time, well it may not be Christmas now, but we still do love fudge, on our little trip to the Outer-banks, North Carolina, we first went to the Fudgery, it was $7.99 a half pound!!!! We decided to much for us, so our next stop was Forbes, in Nags Head, I bot a half pound of fudge, well, let me tell you, boy do i love fudge, but this fudge was certainley bland!!! Of corse it was fudge and good, but the taste was just not as good as normal fudge, we got just regular chocolate fudge, but it seemed to be a little chunky and I like s strong classic flavor like Gram makes it!!! I honestly prefer the rich fudge that has be craving for more, but this did not do the trick, so the next stop for new fudge we GO!!!!
